Get Out of Town This Weekend – More Barleywine & April Brews Day

April 23rd, 2009 · No Comments · Beer Travels, Events, Washington Breweries

There are two great events going on this weekend outside of Seattle that should give you a good reason to take a mini-roadtrip.

Parkway Tavern Barleywine Festival in Tacoma – If you didn’t get enough barleywine in March here in Seattle, you’re in luck. The Parkway is one of Tacoma’s beer bright spots, and this is their biggest event of the year. They’ll be offering a very nice list of barleywine, with quite a few older vintages. They’ll have 31 barleywines pouring, and they’ll be roasting a goat, pig and will have some prime rib. South Sound Eats has all the details on the beers they’ll have pouring. I’ve heard this one gets quite packed, so get there early.

April Brews Day 2009 in Bellingham – More than 35 breweries will be out at the Depot Market Square for this annual event to benefit the Max Higbee Center. You can try beers from a few breweries we rarely see in Seattle, including North Fork, Birdsview and Whatcom Brewing. Tickets are $20 at the door, and tickets include a collectable tasting glass and drink tickets. It sounds like this one can get a bit rowdy. Don’t forget to stop by Boundary Bay and Chuckanut while you’re up there.

As for myself, I’ll be heading to a wedding here in Seattle Saturday night, so I won’t be making either of them. I am hoping to finally make it up to the Hudson Public House…
