You might not realize it yet by looking outside in Seattle, but summer has officially arrived, according to the calendar. This means it is time for the release of one of my favorite beers: Big Time Old Sol Wheatwine. This is Big Time’s summertime version of a barleywine, which they brew annually on the Lunar New Year and then release on the following Summer Solstice (today!). It is not your typical summer beer, coming in at almost 10% alcohol by volume. But, it should be perfect to get you through the last stretch of our extended rainy spring weather.
Old Sol will be available for a limited time on tap and in 22oz bottles at the brewpub.

Yum. Just snuck out of the office this afternoon and grabbed one.
We snagged one yesterday. This vintage is a bit sweeter than previous vintages but we loved it! Aromatic and bold, but a silky smooth sipper with enough bite to keep you on your toes.
