Follow-up: Opening Beer List for New 5 Corner Market in Ballard

December 8th, 2010 · 4 Comments · Beer & Food, General Beer News

Nancy Leson of the Seattle Times reported last week that a new 125-seat gastropub called the 5 Corner Market Bar & Kitchen will be opening in Ballard on December 13. I was able to get a hold of their planned opening day beer list (subject to change). It’s a nice mix European imports and craft beers from the northwest and the rest of the country. From local breweries, Two Beers Crooked Wit will be poured on tap, and bottled beers will be available from Snoqualmie, Diamond Knot, Dick’s Brewing, and Fish Brewing. It looks like they did a nice job of representing a variety of styles and locations, and I think it is a good start for new restaurant. Now, we’ll just have to see what the prices are on some of those bottles…some places (Quinn’s, I’m looking at you) can be ridiculously expensive in this town for bottles.

    Grimburgen Dubbel on draft, nice!

Congratulations to Two Beers for making the grade. My heart is saddened to see a draft list so light on local product. I’m not saying it’s a bad draft list, I’m just hoping that as time rolls on they’ll do a better job of embracing local product. I’d like to think their clientele will push them in that direction. And seriously, ixnay on the Inershay Ockbay.

The “new model” continues to proliferate. Wonderful! The chef, crew and the menu all look to be the makings of an instant classic.
