First it was Pike, and last year the honor went to Hale’s. For the third annual Seattle Beer Week, Maritime Pacific will have the honor of brewing a commemorative beer for the festivities. This year’s beer will be a strong ale using Falconer hops. I’d guess that the beer will be available in bottles and on draft close to the start date of Seattle Beer Week, May 19. Here is the announcement from the Seattle Beer Week website:
It is official and the rumors are true.
Maritime Pacific will be brewing the SBW 2011 Beer.
This years beer will be a detour from the Double IPA from years past. Maritime will be brewing a special Strong Ale using Falconer hops.
Falconer’s Flight™ Hops are an exclusive proprietary hop blend created to honor and support the legacy of Northwest brewing legend, Glen Hay Falconer…. This novel proprietary pellet blend is comprised of many of the Northwest’s most unique hop varieties and is perfect for any Northwest-style IPA. Each hop has been hand selected for its superior aromatic qualities, imparting distinct tropical, citrus, floral, lemon and grapefruit tones.

Great news – never had a bad beer from Maritime. Hoping it’ll be more readily available in bottles than their usual lineup, which I seem to have to go out of my way to track down.
Seems I should not have assumed this will be bottled like the first two. Was just told by someone that it will be draft-only.
i’m not saying either way but whoever told you that kaiser may or may not have been incorrect.
