Even though we are still seven weeks out from the beginning of the 3rd Annual Seattle Beer Week, which kicks off on Thursday, May 19, it is never too early to start marking up your calendars. The organizers continue to add events, and there are close to fifty already listed on the website.
Here are just a few events that stick out to me at this point:
Opening Night at Maritime, Beveridge Place Pub and Naked City Taphouse – Thursday, May 19 – The official kickoff will begin at Maritime, and the fun continues at Beveridge Place Pub in West Seattle with their Seattle Cask-O-Rama and then at Naked City Taphouse with “as many Naked City taps as they can get” and a whole bunch of other Seattle breweries on tap. You might want to take Friday off work.
Back in Black Stout Festival at Brouwer’s Cafe – Saturday, May 21 – If you’re a fan of the darker beers, this one is not to miss.
Stone Brewing Dinner at Elemental – Saturday, May 21 – This popular Wallingford restaurant showcases wine most of the time from what I’ve heard. This beer dinner might be the perfect time to check it out.
Anderson Valley Brewers Dinner at The Leary Traveler – Sunday, May 22 – Fal Allen (formerly of Pike and other Seattle breweries) returns for a night of his beers paired with a special dinner menu.
Walking Man Progression Event at The Noble Fir – Tuesday, May 24 – Walking Man is one of Seattle’s best breweries, and many people still haven’t visited Ballard’s Noble Fir. Seems like a solid combo to me.
Firkin Firkin at Elysian Capitol Hill – Wednesday, May 25 – This has been one of my favorite events over the past two years. Washington beers face-off against beers from out of state. I just wish they would offer the tasting blind…
Sour Beer Festival at Brouwer’s Cafe – Thursday, May 26 – Pucker up. Hands down one of the best sour beer festivals in the country.
Beers and Brats at Safeco Field – Friday, May 27 – Good beers and food in the center field beer garden pre-game, and then seats for the Mariners vs. Yankees.
These are just a few of the great events already announced. Make sure to check out the events page to see what else is going on. Keep checking back as well.
