Constellation IPA – Out of This World

June 13th, 2011 · No Comments · Washington Breweries

I’m a little late to the party on this one, but I finally had a chance to try the Constellation IPA brewed by a collaboration of Washington brewers for Seattle Beer Week. It’s absolutely one of the best IPAs I have ever had, and I wish this wasn’t just a special project for a beer that we may never see again. It managed to showcase a beautiful mix of fruity hop aroma and flavor with a toasted malt base that was a perfect balance of flavor and medium body.

12 outstanding Washington brewers put their heads together to create it, and malt was even toasted by some brewers at their own homes. The beer was brewed at Schooner Exact, and it was only available Bob Brenlin’s 3 Pubs: Latona, Hopvine and Fiddler’s. Schooner Exact still has this on tap at the brewery as well, but I’m not positive if it is available anywhere else. If I were you, I’d get your butt down to Schooner Exact and get a growler filled with this tasty treat (For just $8) before it is gone. Or, stop on by one of the 3 Pubs to see if it is still around.

Cheers to all of the brewers involved in creating such a spectacular beer! Collaborations are always fun creations, but rarely does the end result impress quite as much as the Constellation.

Following is a well-made video about the beer put together by Free Road Films.

The 12 brewers collaborating were: Beaux Bowman (Black Raven), Dick Cantwell (Elysian), Drew Cluley (Bigtime), Kevin Forhan (The Ram), Bill Jenkins, Andy Lapworth (Black Raven), Dave Leonard (The Ram), Steve Luke (Rogue), Matt McClung (Schooner Exact), Janelle Pritchard, Larry Rock, Don Webb (Naked City).

Sponsored by the Latona Pub, the Hopvine Pub, and the Fiddler’s Inn.
