Elysian Moves On to 4th Round of National IPA Championship

March 4th, 2013 · 1 Comment · Washington Breweries

savant18 Washington beers started out competing in the 1st round of the Brewing News National IPA Championship. Hopefully, you filled out your bracket and are in the running to win a case of the winning IPA once the tournament is over. You can see the WA results from that first round here. 5 beers advanced to the second round, and here are those matchups with the winners in bold:

Two Beers Evo IPA vs. ABQ Brewpub In the Mood IPA
Old Schoolhouse Ruud Awakening IPA vs. Fat Heads Head Hunter IPA
Elysian Savant IPA vs. Winder River Wyoming Pale Ale
Airways Brewing Sky Hag IPA vs. Moylan’s Hop Craic XXXXIPA
Elysian Diprohopus Double IPA vs. Marin White Knuckle Double IPA

Elysian was the only WA brewery to move on to the 3rd round, and they pushed through two beers; one in the IPA category and one in the imperial IPA category.

Here were their matchups in the third round with winners in bold:

Elysian Savant IPA vs. Great Lakes Commodore Perry IPA
Elysian Diprohopus Double IPA vs. Big Dog’s War Dog Imperial IPA

So, one of Elysian’s Savant IPA has made it through yet again and will face off against Barley Brown’s Pallet Jack IPA in the 4th round. The winner of that matchup will meet either Ballast Point Sculpin IPA or Troegs Brewing Perpetual IPA in the following round of 8.

Having just had a couple pints of Savant IPA this weekend, I can understand why it is doing so well. It’s a pretty great IPA. Good luck to Elysian!
