Like hiking? Hate work? Call out sick tomorrow, May 25, to take advantage of this nice run of weather by joining Beers Made by Walking for the first of three hikes in the Seattle area this spring/summer. The hike will take place at Upper CCC Trail out near Middle Fork Snoqualmie Road and will be led by volunteer naturalist Mark Boyar. This is a free event, but you have to register.

Keep reading for more info on what Beers Made by Walking is all about and details on tomorrow’s hike.

Press Release:

Now in its sixth year, Beers Made By Walking (BMBW) returns to Seattle! BMBW invites brewers to go on nature hikes led by volunteer naturalists and brew beer inspired by plants found on the trail. All the breweries participating are Partners of the Brewshed Alliance, which currently has over 50 Washington breweries on board. This Washington Wild outreach program helps people make a simple connection: healthy watersheds mean clean water, and clean water makes better beer.

Come out and join Washington Wild for a day on the trail, enjoying the outdoors and hanging out with some of the breweries that are behind protecting clean and healthy watersheds in Washington State. Each hike is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are required. Hikers are accompanied by local brewers who must create a hike-inspired beer in the fall for a special BMBW tapping event where you can try all the nature-inspired brews at once. A list of hikes and sign ups are available below.

These place-based beers serve as drinkable, landscape portraits of the trails that are walked. Tapped during special events at Naked City Brewery, the proceeds are donated to the Washington Wild. The full list of beers will be published after the hikes are completed, but you can see hike dates below if you’d like to add them to your calendar. We can’t wait to get outdoors with our volunteers, Brewshed Partners, and you!

About Beers Made By Walking

Beers Made By Walking (BMBW) is a program that invites people to step outside and see the place they live in a new light. We invite brewers to take nature walks and make beer inspired by the plants identified on the trail. Since 2011, we have worked with more than 100 breweries throughout the country to create over 200 place-based beers. Hiking and tasting events act as educational and fundraising programs for environmental organizations in the regions they serve. Additional info:
