Here is an update from the Russian River blog, including a few notes about the much anticipated releases of Consecration (new BA sour) and Pliny the Younger (bigger than the Elder):
Yes, it has been a while since we blogged, but I promise it is worth the wait! Vinnie and I are building our staff and are happy to report ZERO turonover for 2008! Vinnie now has Travis, Guy, Eric and Alan brewing at both breweries. And I now have my sales/administrative team, James, Drew, Jersey, Christmas, Rachel and Erika keeping me organized and the beer flowing! Aside from our fiscal responsibilities, we have been busy playing with our 2 new brewery kittens, Growler and Ferdinand, whom we are grooming to be future mousers. Vinnie and his brewers have been rather busy lately brewing and bottling seasonal and specialty beers such as:
The ever-popular Valentine’s Day Belgian-style black ale, REJECTION
Cabernet barrel-aged sour beer with black currants, CONSECRATION
And the long-awaited PLINY the YOUNGER
Rejection is currently on tap at our pub and has limited distribution on draft in Napa, Sonoma, and the Bay Area.Consecration will be released on February 2nd on draught and in 750ml bottles at our pub and limited distribution in No. California. Starting that week, we will also distribute bottles and kegs to Southern California, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, and Philadelphia. We can’t tell you exactly where it will be, but it will be extremely limited. Here is a photo of the barrels being emptied. Yummy!
Pliny the Younger will also be released on February 2nd on draft only. It will be available at our pub, select accounts in the Bay Area, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, and Philadelphia. This beer is not bottled but is available for purchase in 1/2 gallon growlers at our pub ONLY. And we do not ship growlers. This beer may only be consumed at our pub, from growlers purchased at our pub, or by the glass at one of our accounts in the aforementioned markets. I had it for breakfast this morning and, oh my goodness, it is quite tasty!
So that is all Vinnie will allow me to disclose, for now…. Other new and interesting brews are in the works! But I can’t tell you or I would be killed! He is Italian, you know…
Cheers!
Natalie
I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for those beers at the usual places in Seattle starting the beginning of February…

Just checking back to see if you by chance have any updates on Pliny the Younger and it’s presence in the Seattle area? Thanks 🙂

You’ve missed a few kegs of it (search for “Pliny the Younger” on the site). But, Elysian Capitol Hill will pour it at 5pm this Tuesday, and Bottleworks will have it on Wednesday for their 11th anniversary celebration. Get there early if you want any. It’s been going quickly…
