After three weeks of battling, the Laurelwood Workhorse IPA took down the Big Sky Brewing IPA in the National IPA Championship this past weekend.
I’ve never had the pleasure of trying the Laurelwood Workhorse, and I haven’t had the Big Sky IPA in quite a while. Looks likes I’ll have to seek out both of them!
Laurelwood beat out Rogue Yellow Snow IPA and Big Sky bested Tyranena Bitter Woman IPA in the Final Four to get to the finals.
The winner of the contest looks to be Dave Metzger, who picked the final matchup exactly right. Congrats, Dave!
Dick Cantwell, of Elysian Brewing, actually grabbed second place by picking the Laurelwood to win it all.
Now, as for the “other” March Madness….go Boilers!

Does anybody know if either of those are bottled and/or available in Seattle in any form? I see Big Sky’s beers all over the place, but it seems only to be their name-driven products, like Moose Drool.

Shane – the Workhorse is not available in Seattle (Portland only, I think), but the Big Sky should be. I’ll be seeking it out soon and will re-post…

I love you and March Madness, but I can’t support your grip on reality. Obviously the Huskies (the real ones; the east coast ones from the 48th biggest state in the union) are going to win tomorrow. I apologize in advance for the poor Purdue performance (try saying that three times fast).
