Cheers to Alan and Pete for another year of fundraising, as well as cheers to Elysian for stepping up to brew this year’s beer! I’ll be looking forward to it.
Elysian Brewing Joins Reunion-A Beer for Hope Team
Kick-Off event at Elysian Capitol Hill Tuesday, August 18 with Elysian
Brewers, Pete Slosberg & Alan ShapiroAugust 14, 2009 – Seattle, Washington
Now in its third year, Reunion – A Beer for Hope has welcomed four regional
breweries as production partners for 2009. Bison Brewing in California
returns for its third year. Joining Bison are Terrapin Brewing in Georgia,
Pizza Port Brewing in Southern California, and Elysian Brewing in Seattle. The 2009 Reunion beer is a Double Wheat Ale with a hint of lemon, based on
the original Pete’s Wicked Summer BrewR. The recipe for this year’s brew
was conceived by Pete and Brian “Spike” Buckowski of Terrapin. Each brewer
has adapted that recipe to meet the requirements of their production
facility and place their individual stamp on the beer. It is available in
draft only.Elysian brewers Dick Cantwell and Marcus Stinson describe their version of
Reunion as hazy golden with a pronounced citrus nose. Fruit and subtle
spice notes dominate the pallet, with a rich, soft finish. It is brewed
with Pale Malt Torrified Wheat, Accidulated Malt, Weyerman Wheat and Great
Western White Wheat. It is bittered with Sorachi Ace hops and spiced with
orange peel, lemon grass and coriander. 7.5% alcohol by volume.“I am thrilled to have Elysian on board as a brewing and fundraising partner
for 2009,” noted Reunion co-founder Alan Shapiro. “They have been an
enthusiastic partner and I look forward to tasting another fantastic Elysian
beer.”“We are honored to work with Pete and Alan on this very worthwhile project,”
added Elysian Sales Director David Buhler.Elysian and the Reunion team will officially launch this year’s release with
