I’ve been neglecting the calendar a bit lately, but I was getting a few events up and wanted to call them out.

Tonight at Brouwer’s, Will Kemper and the Chuckanut team will be on-hand around 6pm or 7pm to discuss their award-winning lagers. Stop on by to grab a pint and congratulate them on the big GABF win this year (Small Brewpub of the Year).
On Tap:
Vienna Lager – Won a Gold Medal at GABF
Pilsner – Won a Silver Medal at GABF
Schwarzbier – Won a Silver Medal at GABF
Rauchbier – Which is Awesome (and should have won a medal!!)!

There is plenty going on this weekend as well. Porterpalooza at Collins Pub, Pike Brewing 20th Anniversary, Seattle Weekly Homebrew Competition Awards at Brouwer’s and the Trade Route Grand Opening at their new location are all on the calendar.

“It’s immensely under appreciated, yet wonderfully drinkable. It’s a true bastard of a style that is sometimes even a blend of several beers. It always tastes just right when the Fall season hits, and food pairs real well thanks to its complex, yet balanced, malt character. ”

was at Collins last evening and, sandwiched between pints of Anacortes IPA, i had the Chuckanut Pils and found it just awesome. I have to be in a certain mood for a pils and, although I wasn’t sure I was last night, it’s still a disarmingly good beer. true to the style for sure.

topped the eve off with a small Boundary Bay Oat Stout. Very good. Felt it this morning, but damn it was tasty.

That’s funny, Elvis – we were there from about 6pm to 8pm last night at the dead center of the bar (3 of us).

Had the Issaquah Fresh Hop Hoppy Frog (OK), Sierra Nevada Estate Wet Hop (Very Good), and a Chuckanut Rauchbier (freaking awesome). My friend Dean had the Chuckanut Pils as well, and that is just a tasty beer.

Was tempted to grab an Anacortes…but figured I’d stick to the fresh hops while I can!

i was in the back as it was a going away party for me at work–going to Redmond, so I guess it’s Malt and Vine and Black Raven for me. trying to hit Collins one time on Friday…look for me.

the michigan barstaff pushed me away from the Issaquah, i had the estate bottle last w/e and liked it a lot, and have had the Rauch several times, each time either loving it or not (the latter really being a matter of mood). need to try the estate on draft (btw, no chatter about SN Torpedo??)

On a warm day (or with the right meal) the Chuckanut Pils is just a great great beer. Perfectly done. Need to try that Vienna Lager.
