For the motivated set of beer drinkers, here is an event that kicks off at 10:30am on Friday, January 1 at Magnuson Park. Join the Resolution Run 5K, then jump in the icy cold water if you please. Then head to the beer garden to finish off with brews from Fremont Brewing and some chili to warm you back up. Visit the website for more information on the event and how to register.
Press release:
The 1,600+ person Resolution Run 5K & Polar Bear Dive event will take place at 10:30am this Friday morning at Magnuson Park (January 1st).
Leveraging a unique event format that couples a 5K run/walk with an optional polar bear dive into Lake Washington, this event continues to attract more and more participants each year. Of the likely 1,600 race participants, more than 60% of them will do the optional polar bear dive that is located at mile 3 of our 3.1 mile running/walking route.
The polar bear dive portion of our event takes place at the public boat launch area in Magnuson Park. Given that our race participants enter the water on the run as they enter the water, the action and energy at this area of our event is one of a kind.
In addition to the 5K run/walk and the Polar Bear Dive, the event also includes a free kids dash for children 10 & under as well as a free chili feed for race participants and a beer garden (for those 21 and over). The event is a fundraiser for the Club Northwest Track Club.
