Last Minute Beer Trips for the Presidents Day Weekend

The North Fork Brewery outside of Bellingham

No plans yet for this weekend? Many of us have Monday off for Presidents Day, and I’m sure all of our presidential fathers from the past would love it if you celebrated the weekend by taking a trip out of town to drink some beer. Here are some ideas for easy last minute trips, along with links to some trips we’ve done in the past.

Tacoma – This is an easy day trip. We hit the Parkway and Red Hot on our last trip, but I’ve also visited Harmon Brewery and The Swiss in the past, and those are definitely worthy stops. Check RateBeer’s database of other places to visit while in town.

Silver City Brewing – Silver City is only a short ferry ride and drive from Seattle (30 miles maybe), but I’m guessing many people haven’t taken the trip. It’s one of my favorite WA breweries.

Breaking out of the Goonies jail

Astoria, OR – It’s really not that far of a drive, and visiting Fort George Brewery alone is worth the trip. Not to mention you can relive all those glorious scenes from Goonies that were filmed there.

Bellingham – If you want to be close to the Olympics, which kick off this weekend, a trip to Bellingham is for you. Chuckanut and Boundary Bay are must-hit breweries, and the North Fork is worth the detour.

Port Townsend – If you missed heading out for the Strange Brewfest a couple of weekends ago, now is still a great time to head out to the peninsula.

Olympia – This is a trip that I’m way overdue on making. It’s only about an hour south of Seattle, and there are plenty of places to keep you busy. Fish Brewing, the Eastside Club, and Gravity Beer Market probably lead the list. Check out RateBeer’s database for more.

Portland – You can never have enough beer trips to Portland. I’ve done too many to link to anything in particular. You can search through the posts under my “Beer Travels” category to find multiple ideas on where to go.

Whatever you end up doing this weekend, have a good one. Or two.

If you go tho Bellingham, The Green Frog currently has brews from Oskar Blues, Yakima Craft, Black Raven, Big Al, Schooner Exact, Fremont, Port Townsend, Two Beers, Elysian, Terminal Gravity, Belhaven, Ayinger and Pike on tap. You can do a beer tour in one spot. Oh yeah, Boundary and Chuckanut are short walks away. The Copper Hog has some interesting stuff on tap right now as well.

If you go to Olympia, then you can go through Gig Harbor to hit Seven Seas, and Shelton to visit Grove Street. Make a nice tasty loop out of it.
