Three Washington IPAs Continue to Advance in the National IPA Championship

February 22nd, 2010 · No Comments · Events, Washington Breweries

After round one of the Brewing News National IPA Championship, there were eight Washington IPAs left standing heading into the second round. If you are not familiar with the contest you can reference my original post. Here is how Washington breweries did in the second round:

Hale’s Supergoose IPA took down the Paw Print IPA from Big Bear Brewing, and Hale’s goes on to face the Elysian Brewing Stolen Fire/Prometheus, which beat the Ballistic IPA from Ale Asylum. One of these WA IPAs is destined to head to the round of 16.

The Pike IPA ran into a buzzsaw and lost to Stone IPA. That’s a tough matchup that no beer should feel bad about losing (if beer had feelings, that is).

The Diamond Knot IPA was bested by Islander IPA from Coronado Brewing.

The Hop Diggidy IPA from Port Townsend Brewing came out on top in a tough matchup with the 21st Amendment Brew Free! or Die IPA.

The Interurban IPA from rookie Fremont Brewing lost to Hop Ride from Tenaya Creek Brewery.

The crowd favorite Trickster IPA from Black Raven Brewing was taken down by the Chinooker’d IPA from Lawson’s Finest Liquids.

Congrats to Hale’s, Elysian, and Port Townsend for advancing once again. Better luck to the rest of the Washington field next year.
