Washington Jumps Out to an Early Lead Over Oregon & California at Concordia Beer Brawl III

February 25th, 2010 · 1 Comment · California Beer, Events, Oregon Breweries, Washington Breweries

This post on Portland Beer & Music reminded me that the Beer Brawl III is currently taking place at the Concordia Alehouse in Portland and voting runs through February 28. This blind tasting pits WA, OR, and CA beers against each other in several style categories: Pale Ale, Imperial IPA, Stout, and Captain’s Choice. Bill Prieb, from Hale’s Ales, is the Washington captain for this year and helped to choose the best beers to represent our state. Looks like he has done a good job so far! As of Wednesday it seems Washington had 170 votes, California had 149, and Oregon had 145 (according to the photo in the original post).

Despite the comment on the post that “Oregon has won repeatedly”, I’d like to point out that Washington won the first year of the Beer Brawl in 2008. Oregon did win last year’s second competition.

Look for an announcement of who won the competition on Monday after all of the votes are counted.
