Washington Takes on Oregon for Firkin-Firkin at Elysian Capitol Hill

April 29th, 2010 · 4 Comments · Events, Oregon Breweries, Washington Breweries

Last year, this event featured California vs Washington and it was one of my favorite Seattle Beer Week events. Firkin – Firkin at Elysian Capitol Hill on Wednesday, May 19, will feature 8 breweries from each state facing off in 8 different style categories with cask conditioned firkins. Customers are encouraged to vote for their favorites in each category. Elysian brings in some special beers for the event, and you are likely to find something you have never before tried.

Here are the Firkin-Firkin matchups:
Pale Ale: WA-Ram 71 Pale Ale vs OR-Hopworks Crosstown Pale
IPA: WA-Elysian Prometheus vs OR-Double Mountain Hop Lava
Imperial IPA: WA-Naked City IIPA vs OR-Ninkasi Tricerahops
ESB: WA-Silver City Ridgetop Red vs OR-Laurelwood Organic Deranger Red
Porter: WA-Black Raven Tamerlane Brown Porter vs OR-Bend Brewing Cherry Baltic Porter
Hybrid: WA-Big Time Trombipulator w/Agave vs OR-Beer Valley Black Madness
Session: WA-Pike Dry Wit vs OR-Pelican Kiwana Cream Ale
Strong: WA-Fremont Bourbon Abominable vs OR-Rogue Imperial Younger’s Special Bitter

Elysian will also honor last year’s overall winner by pouring a cask of Firestone Walker Union Jack IPA.

Go Washington!

do you know if this is going to have any sort of cover or ridiculous amount per taste?

I do not believe there will be a cover charge, and the cost per taste last year was very reasonable if I remember correctly.

sweet! I felt like the pumpkin fest last year was kinda overpriced. is it me or do all fest (maybe cept cask fest) just seem to be getting more pricey or less tastes per ticket? or am i just getting too poor?!

man, ridgetop red is not an esb (neither is the laurlewood entrant),

elysian makes a fine esb, my favorite of their beers
