Alejandro pours in the hops

A few weeks ago I asked for your help in naming a special beer that I’ll be pouring at the Seattle Beer News booth at the upcoming 2010 Washington Brewers Festival, to be crafted for me by Alejandro at Big Al Brewing. After sorting through a bunch of replies, Facebook comments, and emails, my favorite came with the very last reply. “beerdoc” suggested the name Seattle Beer News Passive Aggressive Wheat, which should fit this beer perfectly.  This “Hoppy American Wheat Ale” is going to be a light session beer at less than 5% ABV, but it’s also going to be sneaky in bringing you over to the hoppy side with a boatload of Amarillo and Sorachi Ace hops. There will be 5 hop additions total, including first wort hopping and dry hopping to finish things off. The bitterness will remain low at around 3o IBUs, but we’re hoping the hop flavor and aroma really shines. If this works out like Alejandro expects it to, I’m going to be one happy drinker. This should appeal to hop-heads and wheat beer drinkers alike.

I’ll be pouring at the Seattle Beer News booth most of the festival, and I hope you’ll come by to sample the beer and say hello. If you can’t make it, the beer will also be available at select accounts around the area. I’ll post when I know exactly where.

Thanks for the name suggestion, “beerdoc”. I’ll contact you with more information about your prize package using the email you registered your comment with.

I can’t wait to try your beer and am very excited to be pouring our own beer at the FIRST beer festival I ever went to (my parents live right down the hill from St. Edwards).
