Seattle Times: Pub Chain McMenamins Buying Bothell School, Pool

June 18th, 2010 · 1 Comment · General Beer News, Oregon Breweries

In case you haven’t heard, the McMenamins chain of pubs has agreed with Bothell city officials to buy a historic old school building in order to develop it into a boutique hotel and entertainment complex. The Bothell City Council voted 6-1 to approve the deal earlier this week. If you are not familiar with McMenamins, they own 57 properties around Oregon and Washington, and they are known for taking historic buildings and turning them into charming pubs and hotels. They are a unique business that the northwest is truly lucky to have.

From the Seattle Times:

City officials say it’s a fitting development for the $150 million downtown makeover the city launched earlier this year, and an unusual bright spot in the slow-moving regional economy. The McMenamins complex will also include a restaurant, pub, movie theater, live music entertainment and spa.
