Grand Opening of the Emerald City Beer Lab at the Old Rainier Brewery This Saturday

Beer is once again being brewed at the Old Rainier Brewery, and you’re invited to help celebrate! Emerald City Beer will open their Beer Lab to the public this Saturday, September 25, from 2pm to 8pm, where you will be able to try their flagship beer, Dottie’s Seattle Lager. According to founder and brewmaster Rick Hewitt, “The Beer Lab is intended to be a place where customers can come and enjoy a pint of something fun and new while watching the brewers cook up experimental batches of many different styles.”

Rick hopes that their first beer, Dottie’s Seattle Lager, will take the city by storm. “We wanted Seattle to have a new lager beer to call its own, similar to how Boston has Sam Adams or New York has Brooklyn Lager. It has been over 10 years since the Rainier brewery was closed and we felt it was time for Seattle to have a new lager ‘beer from here.’ We are making Dottie’s from the world-class local ingredients grown right here in Washington State. It is a session lager of reddish-copper color that is malty and delicious with a generous amount of Liberty hops.”

The city already has a lager to call its own. Maritime Pacific already brews Old Seattle Lager and has been for many years now.

My question is – is the actual beer going to be brewed in Seattle? My understanding is that production brewing is contracted out and will not be done at the brewery’s facility.

Yuppers – I believe it is being contract brewed at Odin Brewing in Seattle. They will only be doing pilot batches at the Beer Lab for now.

    Hey, y’all-

I totally met you guys (one guy and two girls) at the YELP HELPS event in fremont a few weeks ago and had a TOTAL BLAST hanging out at your table–though i could have used more beer, but who’s complaining–it was good. I’m the darkish guy with the blue (now teal) mohawk. So just net me know the best time(s) to drop in and i will definitely fall your way.

At any rate, gotta go for now.
