Not long after unleashing the much anticipated Dissident, Deschutes is already moving on to their next big release. The Abyss is available at the Deschutes locations in Bend and Portland today, and bottles will be released here in Seattle (and elsewhere) “soon after”. This is the fifth annual release of The Abyss, and this 11% ABV imperial stout has become one of the most popular special release beers in the northwest.
The Abyss once again invites you to explore its immeasurable depth and discover its rich, complex profile. Hints of molasses, licorice and other alluring barrel aged flavors draw you in further and further with each sip. Every ounce of this precious liquid desires to be savored. 2010 marks the fifth release of this dark and mysterious imperial stout rated the 4th best beer on planet earth by BeerAdvocate.com. Available at our pubs December 1st, everywhere else soon after.

Trade, trade, trade is the only way to get DL short of attending DLD. I’m super stoked on the Abyss release, word on the street is this vintage is drinking wonderfully. I’ve lined up a case and I’m ready to have my own little Abyssmas in a week’s time.

Just grabbed 6 bottles off the shelf at Ballard Market. There are 6 more remaining if you hurry. For the most part, I am on lists to get single bottles around town middle of next week, so that was an unexpected score.
