Hale’s Supergoose IPA Wins Washington Challenge in Portland

May 26th, 2011 · 2 Comments · Events, Washington Breweries

Hale’s Supergoose IPA beat out nine other Washington IPAs to take top honors at the Washington Challenge, held at Portland’s Concordia Ale House. This is a blind tasting challenge where customers vote for their favorite Washington IPAs on a taster tray.

As the winning brewery of the WA Challenge (for the 3rd or 4th year in a row I believe), the Hale’s team will represent the state of Washington in the 2012 Beer Brawl V, where a lineup of WA beers will compete with similar styles from OR and CA. WA has won the last two Beer Brawls, and three of the four total competitions (OR took the second year).

Cheers to the Hale’s team and all the other participating breweries. Following are all of the WA contenders (from John Foyston’s The Beer Here):

I do love that Supergoose, but I think Black Raven would have been a heavy contender. I’ll have to track down that Everybody’s Brewing IPA, think that’s the only one I haven’t gotten to try…
