Black Raven to Release Pour Les Oiseaux Barrel-Aged Saison Bottles This Saturday

May 18th, 2012 · No Comments · Beer Releases, Washington Breweries

Black Raven Brewing has announced that they will be releasing their Pour Les Oiseaux barrel-aged saison this Saturday at the brewery. It will be available on draft and in 750ml bottles (limit 4). This saison is aged in Chardonnay and Viognier wine barrels and fermented with brettanomyces. This has been a popular beer at past festivals, such as Belgianfest and Brouwer’s Big Wood. While I haven’t had this in a while, I found a past note that claimed, “I love the combo of spicy saison and the oak and fruity/citrus wine barrel notes.” Pretty in-depth review, huh?

I love that Black Raven is offering these special release beers in bottles fairly often these days (I have a bottle of their Schwarzeit in my fridge right now), and I hope it continues with more of their specialties. Even if I don’t make it over to grab a couple of bottles of this saison, I’m sure plenty of people will.

NEW BEER RELEASE

“Pour Les Oiseaux”
Release date: Saturday 5/19

Saison aged in white wine barrels with Brettanomyces.
ABV: 6.8%

Pour Les Oiseaux is part of our “Corbeaux” series of beers. This beer is brewed as a four grain farmhouse style ale and then aged in French oak Chardonnay and Viognier wine barrels for many months. After aging, the barrels were then blended together to become “Pour Les Oiseaux”. Secondary fermentation was completed in the wine barrels with brettanomyces.

On tap at the brewery and available to go in 750ml bottles for $12.99 + tax. Limit four per person.

No growler fills or kegs to go.
