The Latona Pub Celebrates 25 Years This Week With Events, Special Beers

August 13th, 2012 · No Comments · Events

The Latona Pub is one of Seattle’s great neighborhood bars. Since opening in 1987, the bar has been a cornerstone of the local craft beer community and has probably featured more local beer than just about any other establishment. There will be a different event every night this week leading up to the big celebration on Saturday, which will feature all of the anniversary beers made for Latona over the past several months. See below for more info. Cheers to Bob Brenlin and crew for keeping great local beer in their customer’s hands for 25 years.

Press Release:

The Latona Pub celebrates its 25th birthday next week with a series of special brewers nights and events. The week-long celebration will conclude with a grand Anniversary Party on Saturday, August 18th when many Latona regulars and brewing industry friends are expected to be in attendance to help celebrate the special occasion.
The Latona has long been the headquarters for many local craft beer enthusiasts and brewers alike. The original Latona was a post prohibition tavern and operated from 1933 until the mid 80’s. It was then renovated by the current local ownership group in 1987 and has been the location of many craft beer events, from the release of new beers to brewer appreciation nights, and frequent cask celebrations ever since. During the course of the years this beloved neighborhood pub has not only witnessed the evolution of the local craft beer industry but also played an integral part in shaping one of the strongest craft beer scenes in the country. The Latona is particularly known for its commitment to supporting the local brewing community and helping put the newcomers on the map. It introduced many local breweries to the Seattle craft beer scene over the years including Georgetown Brewing, whose very first pour was served at the Latona in 2002.
There has also been a long music tradition and for many years Boots, Barrie, and Murray played the Latona Friday Happy Hour. Currently Phil Sparks and Friends continue that amazing tradition. In addition to the spectacular beer selection and music the quality of the food also adds to the classic neighborhood pub appeal. On any day of the week the Latona is full of patrons enjoying cold pints of beer with its scrumptious pub fare.
Since January of this year the Latona has been unveiling a special anniversary beer brewed by different breweries each month and all of them will be available at the Anniversary Party on Saturday, August18. Also part of the festivities are barbeque and a live performance by a popular jazz musician Brian Nova starting at 8pm.
