Beer as Art is a series of events put on by Rain City Brew that pairs local homebrewers with local artists to create art pieces inspired by their homebrews. For their next event, ‘Stache Bash, they have paired up with a non-profit organization called The World is Fun and Ninkasi Brewing, which is allowing them to be open to the public for the first time, rather than just functioning as a private event.

‘Stache Bash will take place on Sunday, November 4 from 5pm to 8pm at the Seattle Creative Arts Center in Ballard. Entry is $20 (cash only!) and includes a commemorative tasting mug and tastes of 20+ unique homebrews. There will also be sponsored raffle prizes from places such as Derby Salon, Two Bells Bar and Grill, Cellars Homebrew Supply, Homebrew Heaven and Bob’s Homebrew Supply. Dante’s Inferno Dogs will also be on site (also cash only). “Brewers’ Choice” and “Peoples’ Pick” awards will be handed out, and there will also be an industry award called the “Professional Favorite.”  This is to be judged by two or more beer industry professionals at the event.

For the art, the brewers were all tasked with coming up with beer names that fit with the theme of the show, ‘Stache Bash. Then, the artists were given the names and created label art that they will then reveal to the brewers (and the public) at the event. It’s a fun, collaborative way to inspire creativity in both the brewing process and the artistic process. The art will be on display at the event. There is free admission for designated drivers to view the art, and all attendees are encouraged to take public transportation or have someone responsible driving. There will be quite a few high ABV brews pouring, so be careful. Non-alcoholic beverages will be available at Dante’s as well.
