It has been a long time coming, but Bluebird Microcreamery is now officially becoming Bluebird Microcreamery & Brewery. That’s right, my favorite local ice cream shop is now making their own beer. They’ll be brewing on the old 2bbl system from Naked City Brewery, and they will be focusing on “dessert-focused” beers meant to go well with ice cream (float anyone?). More details below about their Grand Opening event taking place tonight at 5pm at their Phinneywood location on Greenwood Ave. Also, according to Allecia Vermillion over at Seattle Met, longtime homebrewer Tom Schmidlin will be heading up the brewing operations.
Bluebird Brewing is set to open to the public this Thursday 11/15/12. Bluebird Brewing is a 2bbl nanobrewery that will provide Bluebird Ice Cream shops with craft sodas and dessert-focused beers. This means that your favorite ice cream shop will also be your favorite soda fountain, (including adult sodas.) Join us this Thursday at our shop at 7400 GREENWOOD AVE N. for our grand opening at the brewery location We’ll have a happy hour from 5-7, with all 8 taps flowing. Click “SEE MORE” for details….
Try sodas like Snickerdoodle and Root Beer, and beers like Theo Chocolate Milk Stout and Caffe Vita Coffee Porter.
There will be raffles for prizes like t-shirts, growlers, scoops, and pints of ice cream.
Take tours of the brewery and learn about our home-delivery program planned for 2013.Bluebird Brewing had previously only been available at select beer festivals, including placing third in a field of over 60 entries at the 25th Annual Phinney Beer Taste this past Saturday. What a shame I missed this. Oh well, I’ll head over there soon to review their root beer. Hope it’s good.
