Brouwer’s 6th Annual Big Wood Festival Kicks Off on Thursday

December 3rd, 2012 · No Comments · Events

Brouwer’s Cafe puts on some amazing special events and festivals, and one of my favorites of the year is always Big Wood. This celebration of wood-aged beer includes stouts, sours, strong ales and more. The event will start when their doors open at 11am on Thursday and will run through the weekend. While some high-demand beers will disappear pretty quickly, there will be plenty of fun stuff left if you can’t stop by until later in the weekend. If you are going on Thursday, expect it to be busy no matter what time you are going.

A preliminary list of beers is posted here, and an update should be coming soon. One of the highlights of this year’s fest is sure to be five special beers from local breweries aged in Dryfly Wheat Whiskey barrels. Brouwer’s obtained the barrels earlier this year and distributed them to select local breweries to age a beer for Bigwood in. The results will be pouring on Thursday for the first time. The five beers will include Big Time Old Sol Wheatwine, Elliott Bay Lake City No Doubt Stout, Fremont B-Bomb, Elysian Split Shot Espresso Milk Stout, and Black Raven “Mr. Kitty” Blueberry Pale Ale on Nitro.
