Beer as Art is a bi-annual event put on by Rain City Brew that pairs local homebrewers with local artists to create art pieces inspired by their homebrews. For their next event, “Brews of Anime,” they have paired up again with the non-profit organization called The World is Fun and Ninkasi Brewing, which is allowing them to be open to the public for the second time, rather than just functioning as a private event. They have gathered more sponsors for this event than in their past events, which has allowed them to expand their winner categories.
‘Brews of Anime’ will take place on Sunday, April 14th from 3pm to 9pm at the E|M Fine Art Gallery in Seattle. Entry is $20 (cash only) and includes a commemorative tasting mug and tastes of 20+ unique homebrews. There will also be sponsored raffle prizes that attendees can win throughout the event from donors such as Derby Salon, Cresta LaFever ‘Reflexologist’, Varnish Salon, Two Bells Bar and Grill, Cellars Homebrew Supply, Homebrew Heaven, Bob’s Homebrew Supply, Sound Homebrew Supply, Larry’s Brewing Supply, Mountain Homebrew and Wine Supply, Full Throttle Bottles, Hilliard’s Beer, Wine World and Spirits, Chuck’s Hop Shop, Ninkasi Brewing, as well as the American Homebrewers Association. Dante’s Inferno Dogs will also be on site (also cash only). “Brewers’ Choice” and “Peoples’ Pick” awards will be handed out, and there will also be an industry award called the “Professional Favorite” which has been expanded to include more winner. This is to be judged by two or more beer industry professionals at the event.
For the art, the brewers were all tasked with coming up with beer names that fit with the theme of the show, ‘Brews of Anime’. Then, the artists were given the names and created label art that they will then reveal to the brewers (and the public) at the event. It’s a fun, collaborative way to inspire creativity in both the brewing process and the artistic process. The art will only be on display the day of the event. You can see art from past events at http://raincitybrew.com/past-events/
There is free admission for designated drivers to view the art, donations to TWIF are always welcomed though, and all attendees are encouraged to take public transportation or have someone responsible driving. Non-alcoholic beverages will be available at Dante’s as well.
Cheers to Rain City Brew, The World is Fun and Ninkasi Brewing for putting together a unique event!
