I know, I know….tonight is amateur night. And, as my friend Dean puts it this year, “It’s really just a Tuesday night.” But, there are plenty of options for local beer spots where you can celebrate the new year in style with some really great beers. Below are just a few. My advice? Either stick to a bar close to home (dealing with transportation home on NYE can take most of the fun out of it), have a designated driver or just stay home and crack open some special beers.
Pine Box – New Years Eve “Sparkle Party” at Pine Box! What’s a Sparkle Party? Well, they’ll be featuring the aptly named Sparkle Party Berlinerweiss from 10 Barrel Brewing in Bend, OR. Also on Tap from 10 Barrel is their Cherry Crush, a Sour Cherry Beer made with Sparkle Party as it’s base. They will also clean out the cellar a bit and tap some other goodies, just for fun. Other beers include Firestone Walker 17, Hair of the Dog Fred and Fremont B-Bomb.
Uber Tavern – No official NYE party going on here, but with rarities like Mikkeller Spontancassis, Green Flash Double Columbus IPA, Boneyard Backbone Stout and Almanac Bourbon Sour Porter on tap, every night is a party.
Beveridge Place Pub – If I lived in West Seattle, this is surely where I would be for NYE. They are sure to have plenty of great beers on tap, and they’ll have a midnight toast with bottles of Deus Brut de Flandres, Shingleback Black Bubbles and Codorniu Sparkling Pinot Noir. If you don’t make it in there for NYE, though, you should think about heading over on New Year’s Day when they’ll be asking you to join the dark side. They will open at noon on January 1 and will be pouring Almanac Sour Bourbon Porter, Black Diamond Bourbon Grand Cru, Deschutes Abyss, Odin Barrel-aged Stout, Pike Entire and Two Beers Overhang Imperial Porter.
Brouwer’s Cafe – With the great lineup of beers at Brouwer’s, you’ll have plenty to choose from on NYE. According to bar manager Nat Pellman, “We will be pulling a few goodies from the cellar for New Year’s eve, we are currently deciding on just which beers we will pour. We will be opening a large bottle from Reuben’s Brews and one from Outlander (our neighbor) to ring in the New Year with a proper beer toast. Please come down and join us.”
I’m sure there are plenty of other beer spots that will be celebrating at midnight. Feel free to leave a comment with other information.
