If you live anywhere near the Silver City Brewery & Taproom in Bremerton, tonight would be a good night to take a detour on your way home. They’ll be releasing their new West Sound IPA, as well as this year’s batch of their Imperial Stout, which won a gold medal at the 2012 World Beer Cup.
The new West Sound IPA sounds like it will be right in my wheelhouse; hop-forward with a sessionable 5.5% ABV. I look forward to having a few if I see it on tap on this side of the sound. More details below.
More info from Silver City:
Bremerton, WA – December 18, 2013 — Silver City Brewery today announced the release of West Sound IPA. Silver City presents West Sound IPA as a tribute to our home here on the Kitsap peninsula and a greeting to new fans around the Puget Sound. West Sound IPA will be available on draft and in 22oz bottles around the Puget Sound.
West Sound IPA was created to offer an IPA with a different approach for the Northwest. With a nod to West Coast Style IPA, West Sound IPA offers a dryer, less malt forward approach that is typically representative of a Northwest Style IPA. Of this Brewmaster Don Spencer says “With the West Sound IPA we took a different approach we’ve wanted to do for some time. West Sound IPA presents a dryer finish allowing the layers of hops to shine through with a sweet citrus & tropical fruit character up front that follows with a pleasant & crisp bitterness.” Don added with a grin “And at 5.5%, West Sound IPA is very sessionable, which I’m a big fan of.”
Silver City Brewery West Sound IPA will make its debut on Friday 12/20 at the Hoppy New Beer Party at Silver City Brewery Taproom in Bremerton. West Sound IPA will be accompanied by this year’s release of Silver City’s World Beer Cup Gold Medal Winning Imperial Stout. Both West Sound IPA & Imperial Stout will be available on draft, for growler fills, & in 22oz bottles at the Hoppy New Beer Party with Puget Sound distribution to follow late December/early January.
West Sound IPA
Across the Puget Sound, west of Seattle and just about smack dab in the middle of Kitsap County lies Silverdale, WA. This is where Silver City Brewery was founded back in 1996.
Even as the crow flies, we are only 10 miles away from Seattle and yet we can seem so far away. That is why we created our West Sound IPA. It is a friendly knock at the door from your neighbor with a warm smile and a cold beer. We are Silver City; let us introduce ourselves. Wherever you should find us, at our tasting room in Bremerton, our restaurant in Silverdale, local pub or beer store near you; we hope you enjoy our beer and feel a little bit closer to Silver City.
Silver City West Sound IPA provides a ferry-boat-load of hoppiness! It’s big floral citrus aroma and pleasantly assertive bitterness are provided by Bravo, Galena and Zythos hops. Enjoy!
