Intro:
In honor of BridgePort’s 30th anniversary, the Portland brewery is a releasing a trio of limited edition beers called the Trilogy Series. First up is this pale ale featuring Crystal hops, which is one of brewmaster Jeff Edgerton’s favorite NW varietals. This was released a couple of weeks ago, so you should be able to find it in all major markets where BridgePort is sold. Look for the 2nd and 3rd releases in the series in May and September.

Description:
bridgeport2Pours a crystal clear dark golden with a thin head. Lemon and some earthy/grassy hops are subtle in the aroma. I was expecting a more assertive aroma from the dry hopping; it’s pretty subdued. The flavor starts with grassy hops followed by a big punch of pleasant grainy malt in the finish. This does a great job of featuring the hops, while still allowing the malt to contribute to the overall flavor profile. A moderate body pairs with a solid bitterness, keeping things in balance and fairly smooth throughout. It’s difficult to make a pale ale stick out these days, but I’d gladly drink a few of these.

Verdict: 3.75 out of 5 Booyas
