It’s no secret that I think Gordon Biersch’s downtown Seattle brewpub is serving up some of the best lagers in the city. Brewmaster Kevin Davey proudly produces consistently good quality lagers, including several that won medals at prestigious competitions last year. His Golden Export won a gold medal at Great American Beer Festival in the Munich-style Helles category, and his Winter Bock won a gold medal at the World Beer Cup in the Traditional German-style Bock category.
Today, Kevin is releasing a new India Pale Lager (IPL) with a tapping party at the pub. The beer weighs in at 7.5% ABV and 50 IBUs and heavily features the hop flavors. Kevin says, “It’s got a classic aroma and bitterness from Cascade, Centennial, Amarillo, and Citra. Massively dryhopped too, but not overwhelming. It is a lager after all.” According to Kevin, this is easily the hoppiest lager he has ever made, and he’s pretty excited about it. All you Seattle hop-heads should be excited, too.
The tapping party will last from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Samples of the beer will be passed around, as well as some appetizers.

Thanks for the post, Geoff! By the way, this beer will help you forget about Pliny. 🙂
