I find it hard not to visit both Beveridge Place Pub & The Beer Junction when I make it over the bridge to West Seattle. They are easily two of my top beer spots in the city. Tonight would be a great time to visit both of them, as they’ll be hosting a couple of enticing events.

At Beveridge Place Pub, they’ll be celebrating the 7th anniversary of moving into their current space with their annual Georgetown Brewers Night. The crew from Georgetown will be there, and they are bringing a keg of Craigalicious Black Lager (the clear keg isn’t going to make it, though!), along with Kiss Ass Blaster Triple IPA and Barrel-Aged Chopper’s Red. The fun starts at 7pm.

At The Beer Junction, they will be hosting Denali Brewing Company for a brewers night. They’ll have six beers on tap from Denali, including five that rarely make it outside of Alaska.

More about Denali Brewing and the six beers that you’ll be able to sample:

Denali Brewing Tasting Night
Thursday, April 9th; 5-8PM
Denali Brewing Company is a locally owned microbrewery located in Talkeetna, Alaska, in the heart of the upper Susitna Valley. Ever since coming to Alaska from the fertile craft beer grounds of Oregon in 1996, general manager Sassan Mossanen just knew that Talkeetna was thirsty for a brewery of its own. During the ensuing years, he made several attempts at filling the obvious gap. Along the way he also built his own cabin up the tracks from town, established a successful construction company, and found time to homebrew on the side. All the while, brewer Boe Barnett was living 250 miles north of Talkeetna, in the Goldstream Valley outside Fairbanks, Alaska. He was teaching English at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The current incarnation of Denali Brewing Company was created in December of 2007, when the two partners met over a keg of Boe’s homebrewed pilsner. Sassan spoke of his passion for the community of Talkeetna and how its proud, independent minded citizens had, for years, been yearning for a brewery of their own. Boe spoke of his desire to bridge the gap between beer geeks and regular folks who just like to drink beer. Fast forward to late winter 2009. Boe and his family now call Talkeetna home and Denali Brewing Company has found its own home on Main Street in downtown Talkeetna.

The tasting event will feature the following beers:

1. Saison le Coq
2. Surly Bird German Dark Lager
3. Louisville Sour
4. Hibernale Abbey Tripel
5. Flag Stop #3 Belgian Dark
6. Twister Creek IPA
DENALI BREWING TASTING NOTES
Try the below 6 beers for just $5 on Thursday, April 9th, from 5-8PM!

1. Saison le Coq
Traditional Belgian farmhouse ale brewed with rye, caraway and trace of onion. Four months of barrel aging imparted wild yeasts, adding complexities to the solid dry finish. We cellared this beauty for seven months, allowing it to naturally carbonate. 8.9% ABV

2. Surly Bird German Dark Lager
We use traditional Pilsner and Munich malts and light noble hops.  This lager has subtle chocolate and coffee flavors with a crisp, clean lager finish. 5.1% ABV

3. Louisville Sour
Primary fermentation in American oak barrels gives this medium bodied golden ale refreshingly tart flavors of lemon zest and wood.  A Talkeetna favorite. 5.1% ABV

4. Hibernale Abbey Tripel
In celebration of Earth’s annual tilt back toward the sun, we bring you Hibernale. A Belgian style tripel centered smack dab between the peppery spring of a spicy blend of Belgian yeasts and the nocturnal kiss of dark crystal, Munich and honey malts, Hibernale helps fight the midwinter urge to stay curled up in bed. For a taste of hope, optimism and promise this solstice season, get up and grab a glass. After all, you’re halfway there already. 9.3% ABV

5. Flag Stop #3 Belgian Dark
Brewed with Belgian Pilsner, Munich malt, and a touch of roasted barley.  Extensive aging in Cabernet barrels and re-blending yields dark chocolate, dark fruits, oak, and tobacco notes.6.9% ABV

6. Twister Creek IPA
When it was discovered that hops not only added bitterness and aroma to beer, but made it last longer too, British brewers created the IPA style to survive the long voyage to India, where her majesty’s thirsty troops awaited unspoiled ale. Twister Creek IPA combines the finest Pacific Northwest and British hops atop a foundation malty enough to balance its 71 IBUs. High octane, full-flavored, well-balanced. This is the beer you’ve been thirsty for. 6.7% ABV.
