My favorite time of the year is almost here. It’s tough to beat fresh hop beer season here in the Pacific Northwest.

The unofficial kickoff of fresh hop season around here is the release of Two Beers Brewing Fresh Hop IPA. This year’s version will be released on August 23 at The Woods tasting room in SoDo.

More info from the brewery:

SEATTLE (August 17, 2017) – Two Beers Brewing is excited to announce the release of its most anticipated beer of the year – Fresh Hop IPA! Scheduled for release on Wednesday, August 23 at The Woods tasting room in SoDo, this highly sought after brew marks the first fresh hop release of the season, available in 12-ounce cans and on draft. First brewed in 2009, Fresh Hop IPA enters its ninth season on the brewery’s fall lineup, remaining one of the Seattle-based brewery’s most popular releases. A true labor of love, Fresh Hop IPA is made with fresh Centennial hops from the Yakima Valley, handpicked by dozens of volunteers on the brewery dock. Winning first place at the 2015 Fresh Hop Festival in Yakima, craft beer lovers are encouraged to pick up a six-pack soon, as this  celebrated hyper seasonal will only be around through the end of September!

“Fresh Hop has always been one of our favorite annual traditions,” said Joel VandenBrink, founder & CEO of Two Beers Brewing Co. “There’s something truly special about picking hops off the vine with the people who we know will be the first to line up to enjoy our Fresh Hop IPA. We also love the chance to connect people directly to the ingredients in their beer and be a part of the process. And, of course, enjoy a pint of the final product together!”

A hyper seasonal, Two Beers Brewing’s Fresh Hop IPA is known for its intense hop flavor and unique brewing process, which involves a same-day round trip drive to Yakima, four hours of picking fresh hops off the vine and a 24-hour brewing process. Ringing in at approximately 70 IBUs and 6.2% ABV, Two Beers Brewing’s annual Fresh Hop IPA features a juicy citrus aroma – offering hints of grapefruit and passion fruit – that can be attributed to the fresh Yakima Valley-grown Centennial hops used to create it. Dark straw in color with light caramel malt tones, Fresh Hop resembles an aggressively dry-hopped IPA, but packing the punch and flavor only fresh hops can deliver. In addition to Centennial hops, this beer features locally grown Amarillo, Cascade, and Citra hops, helping this popular beer achieve its bright and delightfully bitter flavor. Available in 12-ounce cans and on draft throughout Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Idaho, this beer will only be available for a limited time.

Celebrate the release of this exciting beer on Wednesday, August 23 at The Woods tasting room in SoDo (4660 Ohio Ave S) from 3-9pm. Pints and tasters will be available, with six-packs, t-shirts, stickers and more available for purchase from The Woods retail space. Shared with Seattle Cider Company, The Woods tasting room features pool, shuffleboard and an outdoor patio, as well as food from Bread & Circuses available for purchase.
