Story: Starbucks Starts Selling Beer & Wine

October 27th, 2010 · 5 Comments · Bar Reviews

So, you may have heard that Starbucks is trying to drum up some business and excitement by serving up beer & wine.  They first started doing so in their two stealth-like coffee shops called 15th Avenue Coffee & Tea and Roy Street Coffee & Tea. They have now decided to offer alcohol in a bona fide “Starbucks” store. The revamped store on Olive Way in Capitol Hill is the first location and I decided to check it out.

As a beer drinker, I was sorely disappointed (I know, shocking).  While wine drinkers might be happy with the eight wine choices, beer drinkers will be left holding their $%&@ in their hand.  There are no beers on draft and instead we have three choices in bottles: Peroni Nastro Assuro, Deschutes Mirror Pond & Pyramid Haywire Hefeweizen. To add insult to injury, alcohol is only served after 4pm.  It’s definitely a nicely designed coffee shop but personally, my 1pm visit was a waste of time.  Oh well, at least all you beer drinkers won’t have to waste yours.

Peace out, Russ

Not really sure what you were expecting… Starbucks is adding beer and wine to their options, but I for one never anticipated it becoming a great source for good craft brews.

I wasn’t really expecting much aside from drinking a beer at a Starbucks which I wasn’t able to do. I was just being snarky and having another jab at Starbucks. This blog post was meant to be tongue in cheek…..

  • I was equally disappointed when I made a trip over there just to check it out. I thought at least they would have a beer or two on tap, so was sad they were only in bottles and not even a Seattle brew?!
